JOB TITLE: Child Care Specialist/Clerical Assistant
SCHEDULE: Part-time; Monday-Friday / Evenings & Weekends as Necessary

JOB PURPOSE:
The Child Care Specialist will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children. They will also be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, supervising children, and maintaining a clean and orderly childcare area. The childcare specialist should enjoy being around children and feel comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities. Ideal candidates must be able to manage individuals as well as bigger groups of children. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work well with others.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing a safe, nurturing, yet fun environment for children.
- Supervise children during playtimes
- Modeling good character and hygiene habits and encouraging children to follow them.
- Help children learn and develop through play and exploration.
- Encourage positive social interaction among children.
- To support parents in their role as primary care givers of their children.
- Demonstrate Exceptional customer service, in Everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to "Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities."
- ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- The ability to pass a background check.
- A qualification in early childhood education or similar may be advantageous.
- Experience working with young children is preferable.
- Must have CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Knowledge of psychological and emotional development in children preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work in fast-paced, unpredictable environments.
- Superb multitasking abilities.
- Sound judgment skills.
- Administrative duties to support clinic.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some prior clerical experience.
- Prior experience within the military community and/or veteran organization is preferred.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent. Working toward an associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development or another related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of knowledge and experience working with children. Experience working with military families or veteran population is preferred. Bilingual candidates are highly preferred.
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.
LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.
VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice/or able to travel commute
OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to parents, school personnel, licensing, staff and the general public. Ability to make oral presentations.
COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.
DECISION MAKING: Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems. Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of decisions.
ORGANIZATION: Ability to plan ahead several months to a year. Ability to keep various on-going projects organized and files maintained accurately. Above normal levels of concentration and memory required. Requires good time management practices and the ability to meet multiple deadlines.

Multi-line telephone, computer, ten key calculators, printers, copiers, faxes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constant – Ability to communicate with management, staff and clients over the telephone and in person.
Constant – Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, and produce reports.
Constant – Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Occasional – Ability to move to different offices throughout the building.
