Overview
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for monitoring packaging operations for food safety, regulatory and quality compliance. They collaborate with production, maintenance, and warehousing personnel to ensure finished goods packaged meet or exceed customer expectations. When non-conforming materials are identified within the process, the Quality Assurance Technician documents and ensures the material is either held or reconditioned to meet specifications. Technicians also help perform product inspections, organoleptic testing, audits and collect study data.
Responsibilities
- Conduct audits of facility conditions and GMPs.
- Conduct verification of process monitoring equipment for food safety.
- Conduct clean equipment inspection and microbiological/chemical sampling for analysis.
- Perform net contents sampling and monitor for compliance.
- Perform quality inspections on in-process and finished product against specifications.
- Perform sensory evaluations of components and finished goods.
- Coach site personnel in GMPs, product specifications and sanitary condition standards.
- Document non-conforming product, corrective actions, and place materials on hold.
- Assist in performing inspection and inventory of held materials.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a science discipline preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in food manufacturing or regulated industry with a minimum of 1-year relevant experience.
- Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and quality decision making.
Education
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in science discipline preferred.
Skills/Knowledge
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and iOS
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
