Position Summary: Support GIS-related activities for both internal and external projects.
Position Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate as a response member for immediate emergency response deployment as needed
- Create a variety of map products on a daily basis
- Compile maps using data from multiple data sources in various formats (Geodatabases, Web Services, Live data feeds)
- Produce oil spill trajectories and air plume models for planned or unplanned events
- Use modeling software such as RPS-ASA OILMAP, Breeze, Adios, Aloha and Gnome to predict movement and provide mass balance calculations
- Potentially coordinate and conduct internal training for GIS or Oil Spill trajectories as required
- Continuously seek and suggest new approaches to GIS leadership including, but not limited to practices and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of the GIS team
- QA/QC all work products
- Interpret client requests, including but not limited to GIS, IAP, Training, etc. and ensure deliverables are evaluated and have met client expectations
Working Conditions:
- The position may require extended hours beyond the normal working hours

- Regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus
Qualifications and skills:
· Intermediate knowledge and capability to work with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications required.
· Basic knowledge or experience with ESRI ArcGIS Software Suite (Desktop, Pro, Online, Enterprise, Apps).
· Coding experience preferred. (Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, SQL)
· Experience and familiarity with field data collection methods preferred.
· Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Ability to defuse tension within project team or between teams, should it arise.
· Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
· Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Industry specific knowledge in disaster or emergency response a plus.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor of Science in GIS or other technically related field required.
· 1-2 years’ related professional experience preferred.
· GIS certification preferred.
· Oceanographic/ geographic knowledge, high level computer education a plus.
