Overview:
Responsible for providing quality, compassionate, professional nursing care to clinic patients under supervision of physicians and Patent/Clinical Services Manager with Faculty Physician’s Knoxville (FPK) quality practice standards, policies, procedures and customer service expectations. Will proactively participate in identifying the needs of the patients and will implement methodology as directed to improve both patient clinical experience and care. The Office Nurse is also one of the patient’s primary source Health Education in the Patient-Centered Medical Home Health Care Delivery Model.
Essential Functions:
- Clinical responsibilities include patient triage (weight, blood pressure, temperature readings, updating medication list and obtaining and documentation of chief complaint.)
- Responsible for electronic patient prescription services including communication with pharmacies and verification of all medical prescriptions.
- Must be knowledgeable of EMR.
- Answer telephone, screens calls, retrieves voicemails, returns patient calls within 24 hours
- Responsible for precertification requirements for all procedures
- Responsible for filing medical histories, labs, correspondence and other information in patient medical records in proper order following departmental guidelines
- Knowledge of nursing principles and protocols and all aspects of medication names and prescribing
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality as directed by HIPAA standards
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers
- Must be well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision
- Must have skills in critical thinking, communication, influence and decision making
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team
- Daily standing, walking, squatting, bending and maneuvering
Licenses and Certifications: Certified Clinical Medical Certificate and Current CPR Certification required
