Description
The Magnet Program Director (MPD) is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and enculturation of plans and strategies to ensure that the Magnet ® Recognition Program (MRP) data bases are maintained, validated and reported including nurse sensitive indicators, the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), core measures, patient satisfaction, RN Engagement and other metrics to demonstrate and surpass benchmarks and goals for clinical and professional development outcomes. The MPD interfaces directly with the Directors of Nursing for Research and Innovation, Professional Development/Education, Professional Practice, the Senior Director of Nursing for Quality and the Hospital Quality Department, Inter-professional & Support Departments, Administrators, Medical and Clinical Staff, overseeing administrative and daily operations of performance improvement, clinical intervention compliance and the MRP
Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
-
In collaboration with Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership, coordinates clinical intervention compliance activities and manages quality metrics related to the patient experience, nursing care delivery, regulatory agency mandates and the MRP.

Applies Quality/Process Improvement methodology such as Lean, Six Sigma and SBAR.

Evaluates the impact of changes in clinical practice and supports innovation to improve care delivery and resources in the environment of practice.

Acts as a resource to nursing staff related to the ANCC MRP as an approach to meet the needs of patient-family focused care in inpatient and outpatient areas.

Serves as chair of the MRP Committee. Ensures outcomes are progressing to the level of MRP recognition.

Supports a structure that ensures outcomes consistent with the MRP Re-designation Process.

Provides coordination and leadership in the execution of day to day program activities, as appropriate to program objectives and areas of expertise.

Provides technical assistance, resource services, consultation and education to clinical departments relative to the MRP.

Serves as a resource for patients and their families. • Acts as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient Bill of Rights.

Administrative Practice

Prepares reports and analysis associated with the Department of Nursing Quality and the MRP i.e. senior management reports, departmental and clinical service program evaluation, quarterly reports, etc.

Oversees and coordinates all data entry for accurate reports.

Facilitates collaboration within the program between all departments, services and units.

Demonstrates knowledge of hospital, departmental and care center standards, policies, procedures and guidelines as well as regulatory agency standards. Assures readiness for ANCC MRP Re-designation.

Participates in the development and implementation of continuous improvement programs to meet all ANCC MRP requirements.

Is aware of and responsive to budgetary constraints and incorporates financial principles into program development and allocation of resources.

Recognizes each individual's right to health care unrestricted by age, race, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or source of payment.

Assists in the performance appraisal process of designated Nursing staff.

Researches opportunities for use in benchmarking for assigned areas.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing and Masters degree in nursing or health-related field or be enrolled in a program
Experience Requirements:
Progressive job-related experience in quality and ANCC MRP
3-5 years minimum demonstrated clinical and nursing administrative expertise in area of nursing practice assigned.
Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)
Licensed as a registered nurse, Issuing Agency: Department of Health/Office of Professions in the state of New York.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA
Certification: NRP (Labor and Delivery, NICU dept)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $139748 - $209622 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
