Here at New Vista Nursing and Rehab, SNF 121 beds. We are looking for an experienced Director of Staff Development to organize and oversee all Education operations of the facility. You will create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies. There, all personnel will be able to do their best in caring for patients. A Director of Staff Development should have once been a hard-working and compassionate RN or LVN who steadily developed their managerial and administrative skills. Being efficient, dedicated, a good listener and a problem-solver is what will open our door for you. Accountability to: Executive Director
Accountability for:
- The Director of Staff Development is assigned responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the educational component of the nursing care delivered to the residents.
- Assures that all educational needs that are required by OBRA, Title 22 and DHS are met.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The Director of Staff Development does have oversight of C.N.A. performance.
Requirements:
- Must not have been found guilty of abusing, neglecting or mistreating residents in a health care setting.
- Must have knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Must be free from illegal use of drugs and freedom from use of and effects from drug and alcohol use from the work place.
- Must have a working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, etc.).
Education and/or Experience:
- Must have been a Director of Staff Development experience in a LTC setting for 1-3 years (preferred)
- Prefer to have Subacute and Rehabilitation nursing experience for at least 3 year
- Have a thorough knowledge of the nursing process/assessment and license scope of practice.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to provide quality care with high acuity residents.
- Communicates and works effectively with people
- Must possess effective Leadership skills
- Must have the ability to assess residents clinical, mental and spiritual needs
- Must Exhibit a leadership role to all subordinate staff
- Must Demonstrate initiative and utilize time efficiently
- Provides annual in-service training to staff members (focus to be on the current needs in the facility)
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
- Must Possess current DSD Certification
- Must possess current State RN/LVN License
- Must maintain current CPR certification
- Must maintain current fire safety certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Training and Staff Development Functions
- Meets with personnel, as appropriate to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services
- Encourages all staff members to try new techniques, equipment and materials by developing conferences, seminars, etc., using inside/outside professional services as necessary.
- Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to department heads concerning in-service training programs.
- Plans and directs the orientation of newly assigned staff personnel and promote professional upgrading of all personnel’s skills.
- Develops and prepares, scheduling and selection of instructional equipment, training aids and materials, in order to provide an excellent in-service program
- Assumes the authority, responsibility and accountability of maintaining the inservice training program.
- Provides annual in-service training to all staff members concerning residents rights and confidentiality of resident information (HIPPA).
- Ensure that the facility Orientation/Inservice programs are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Leadership
Creates the Monthly and Daily Nursing Schedule
- Assists in developing the objectives, policies and procedures in each department to better serve the department heads, residents and families.
- Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class attendance and subject records, etc.
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the executive director.
- Serves on various committees of the facility as directed.
- Must have strong organizational and analytical skills; oral and written communication skills.
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
- Must have the ability to define and solve problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Comply with required staffing ratios and provide documentation to support the staffing.'
