West Valley Detox is looking to hire a Medical Director for our facilities in Tarzana and Sherman Oaks. This is contracted position with the duties and qualifications listed below. We are looking for a medical director that is familiar with IMS/Detox procedures, medication management for substance abuse and mental health, and someone who provides consistent engagement with our client's assessments, medical care and follow up visits.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The Medical Dictor represents the medical leadership for West Valley Detox Treatment staff and residents. The performance of the Medical Director sets the stage and example for all aspects of the delivery of substance abuse treatment services.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: (Essential Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Competencies, and Minimum Qualifications)
Education:
· M.D. from accredited University or Medical School
· Completion of Residency Program
Experience:
· Experience in addictions and/or mental health and extensive training and/or experience in substance abuse facility or hospital
· Board certification or eligibility in internal medicine
· Career interest in addiction medicine or medical administration
Must possess exceptional management skills, be highly organized and able to work well with clients and professionals at all levels in the organization.
Must have strong leadership and communication skills as well as a thorough understanding of treating clients with substance and abuse and behavioral health care issues.
POSITION SUMMARY: (Duties & Responsibilities)
· Provide direct patient care for all clients needing assessment and admission into the program
· Complete DHCS 5103 (Health Questionnaire and Initial Screening) and DHCS 4026 (Incidental Medical Services Certification Form) for all residents
· Provide health screening, detoxification, medication management and incidental medical services to all residents
· Consults and refers residents to approved providers for any complex conditions that may impact the resident’s success in treatment.
· Assist, regularly review approved and updated, DHCS and Joint Commission standard policies, procedures, and medical protocols regarding patient care.
· In conjunction with the CEO provide guidance to residential treatment program services to include medical services, detox protocols, policies, quality improvement monitoring, and staff education.
· Reviewing, investigating, managing, and reporting all complaints concerning physician relations from patients, staff, and/or administration
· Interceding in and providing counseling, re-training, direction, and discipline to staff regarding medical protocol
· Interact closely with administration to develop goals and provide ongoing assessment to achieve objectives, in keeping with treatment center’s program goals.
· Work cooperatively and supportively with outside health care practitioners, psychiatrists, internists and other physicians to ensure services are available and clinically effective, meeting quality and regulatory guidelines.
· Complete the following reports on time: DHCS 5103 (Health Questionnaire and Initial Screening), DHCS 4026 (Incidental Medical Services Certification Form), Medical Evaluation, History and Physicals, Health Screenings, Monitoring of Medication, Monitoring of testing associated with AOD, Quality Improvement, and Complaint reports.
· Work cooperatively and supportively with the heads of clinical and therapeutic departments to ensure appropriate and timely patient care, patient transfers, and patient referrals.
· Interact closely with administration to develop goals and ongoing assessment of achieving objectives.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
· Assist with development and maintenance of continuous quality improvement programs, ensuring:
o Monitoring and supporting medical quality improvement plan and peer review processes,
o Continuous monitoring and assurance of compliance of care/safety programs
· Ensure the center achieves/passes/meets and maintains California State Licensing requirements through DHCS, IMS, The Joint Commission, managed care and other accreditations.
· Oversee compliance with managed care requirements, including timely and appropriate Physician to Physician reviews, medication formulary utilization, detox protocol, treatment planning and interventions and referrals for aftercare and outside providers
