Northridge Academy is seeking a full-time licensed high school teacher to join our team. The teacher will provide classroom instruction and academic support students at a residential treatment center. This position will also be responsible for managing other teachers.
Northridge Academy is a private school offering year-round education services to a therapeutic residential treatment center. The students are all male, ages 15-18, with mild to moderate behavior issues. Classes are staffed with RTC support staff to monitor behavior, so all you have to do is teach! Tutors/paraprofessionals are available during class time to help with individual students’ needs. Class size is small (16 students max).

Pay: $24-$26/hour
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assist the students in learning math and all other core subjects (via self-paced workbooks) one-on-one or in small group settings
- Work with the RTC Education Coordinator to create plans and provide support to help students reach their academic goals
- Grade student work and manage student records meticulously and in a timely manner
- Plan and teach critical thinking units once per month
- Provide IEP accommodations for students as needed
- Supervise students during class hours
- Supervise and manage two other RTC teachers
- Provide some oversight and collaboration with six to eight remote, online teachers
- Design and implement data-driven initiatives for continuous school and RTC program improvement
- Serve as liaison between teachers and management
- Be a mentor and trainer for tutors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Understanding of higher level math (common core 1-3 and discrete math including algebra 1, 2 and geometry)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Outstanding email etiquette
- Strong organizational skills and heavy attention to detail
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to de-escalate conflict
- Ability to maintain firm, healthy boundaries with students
- Passion for education with a commitment to student success
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of student records
- Currently active teaching license
