Established in 1932, Mosser Lee manufactures products for the lawn and garden industry. The company’s products include a line of gardening products such as sphagnum moss, sands, and rock soil cover and soil and home contaminant testing kits. Many of the company’s customers includes large retailers such as Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Amazon, and Tractor Supply.
The accounting manager supervises the accounting team to support efficient and effective company-wide operations. This role will report directly to the Controller and requires an individual who motivates others through a positive professional attitude; exhibits integrity, reliability, and leadership; will provide exceptional support by managing self and others with a sense of urgency, practicality, and accountability.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the accounting department and improve operations through effective and efficient operations.
Supervise the work of two staff accountants and help them develop their skills and abilities.
Provide support and collaborate with other company personnel whose responsibilities directly align with accounting department functions.
Oversight and responsibility of cash management, inventory control, accounts receivables, accounts payables, order processing, and weekly and monthly report preparation.
Utilize ERP software and implement appropriate procedures and controls to ensure accuracy, enhance efficiency, and ensure proper internal controls.
Direct annual physical inventory and periodic cycle counts.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 4 years of experience (manufacturing or distribution environment preferred).
Supervisory experience required.
Experience with Big Box retailers is highly desirable.
