About Minds Matter Boston
Minds Matter Boston (MMB) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to connect driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world. For the last 15+ years, every Minds Matter Boston graduate has gained admission to a 4-year college, and 97% of alumni are still enrolled or have graduated from a 4-year college.
Position Overview
The program managers are critical members of the program team and are primarily responsible for managing the programmatic needs and operations of MMB’s college access programming for mentees and volunteers. The Program Managers will have a direct impact on the sustainability of our long-term goals and the success of our programming. These highly collaborative positions work with stakeholders throughout the organization, including all Minds Matter Boston staff members, the volunteer corps, the student body, and high school partners. The College Access Program Managers will report to the Associate Director of College Access (ADCA).
Minds Matter Boston is looking to hire two Program Managers, one to manage our Senior program and one to manage our Sophomore & Junior programs.
The College Access Program Manager should be available to begin work in late July or early August. This position has regular work days from Tuesday to Saturday during the school year, with occasional evening meetings.
Core Responsibilities: Program Manager (Senior Program)
Senior Year Support & Management
- Oversee all senior advising work, including assessing student progress, working with mentors and volunteers to provide support, and tracking key success indicators
- Manage a team of volunteers focused on providing support to our seniors; this includes providing training and guidance on best practices
- Serve as primary contact for all student concerns in the 12th grade; determine strategy to best support students and loop in staff and outside supports as needed
- Using the program calendar and a clear vision for success, oversee the week-to-week sessions and content created for seniors
Data Collections & Management
- Oversee the data tracking process to ensure all seniors submit their college applications on time
- Support efforts to ensure all students have access to financial aid, including submitting the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and applying to scholarships
- Oversee Overgrad, our online application tracking system, including managing all user accounts, creating and utilizing reports, and building a best practice approach to maximizing its capabilities.
Events & Programs
- Manage all fly-in opportunities for students
- Manage the implementation of college visits for rising and current seniors.
Core Responsibilities: Program Manager (Sophomore/Junior Program)
Program Management
- Lead operations of Saturday programming for 10th and 11th grade mentees and mentors to ensure high-quality program delivery with support from the Program Coordinator (PC) and ADCA.
- Oversee the application and placement processes for Minds Matter Boston’s Junior Summer programs; manage a team of volunteers who support the enrollment and onboarding of all students in a summer enrichment opportunity
- Oversee mentee onboarding and exiting
- Serve as primary contact for all student concerns in the 10th and 11th grade; determine strategy to best support students and loop in staff and outside supports as needed
- Manage and track key data related to summer programs, and student and volunteer retention
- Lead and manage the guardian advisory councils
Student Recruitment
- Manage the Student Recruitment process, including organizing and executing on in-person info sessions, managing the application review process, interview day, and final selection process
- Onboard and manage a team of volunteers who support the application and interview processes
- Build relationships with high school partners and develop an engagement strategy to deepen investment in partnership
- Lead a group of students to serve as ambassadors at select high schools in support of recruitment

Qualifications
- 4+ years of work experience in educational or nonprofit settings
- Ability to work well with a small, close-knit team
- Ability to manage key programming initiatives and drive toward KPIs
- High cultural competence with experience serving diverse populations and students from low-income communities
- Experience with CRM databases, such as Salesforce, preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing complex tasks and multiple projects and timelines
- Bachelor’s degree required
Compensation & Benefits
- $55,000 - $70,000; salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
- Excellent benefits package includes medical/dental/vision/life and short and long-term disability insurance, 15 paid vacation days, 15 sick days, paid holidays, and a 401k plan.
