Summary of Job
The Junior Cyber Security Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding our organization's valuable data and IT infrastructure from cyber threats. The role will be responsible for identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, monitoring suspicious activity, responding to incidents, and implementing security best practices.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Ensuring security updates are current across all systems
- Monitoring security administrations to ensure best practices
- Ensuring security tools are running properly on company networks and devices
- Researching emerging threats and the safeguards that can provide protection
- Monitor systems for specialized security requirements based on specific company needs
- Supports administration of all security programs such as email security applications, network security, Cloud, and endpoint devices for access controls and governance.
- Studying devices and implementing the best security protocols for everything from cell phones to tablets to laptop.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a cybersecurity role.
- Strong understanding of security concepts and best practices, including network security, endpoint security, intrusion detection, and incident response.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Bilingual Spanish / English. (as a plus)

Technical Skills*
- Network Security: Strong understanding of network protocols, network security concepts (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, IDS/IPS), VPNs, network segmentation, and secure network design principles.
- Security Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with various security tools and technologies like vulnerability scanners, penetration testing tools, security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Understanding of encryption algorithms, digital signatures, and key management practices.
- Certification in security technologies such as CompTIA Security+ or equivalent. (as a plus)
