Position Summary
The Public Works Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and execution of capital projects while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitment, and goals of the City of Erlanger. Additional duties / work tasks may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Department Director.
Essential Functions
This position may be assigned projects / expected to coordinate and complete tasks within identified expectations / facilitate managerial duties
Maintains files and project folders
Oversees completion of special projects, as directed
Acts on behalf of the Director of Public Works, in his absence or as directed
Assists with coordination / management of winter operations, as directed
Inspects / manages capital projects, as directed, and maintains working relationships with contractors
Attends meetings / participates with special committees, as directed by the Director of Public Works
Coordinates general departmental purchases that align with a defined budget
Completes stormwater partner tasks / work assignments
Inspects city property and parks for safety issues and coordinates resolution of same
Inspects street and sidewalk repairs to include capital replacement projects
Maintains / repairs city-owned buildings/structures, as directed
Meets with citizens as needed to investigate / resolve issues or concerns
Meets with contractors and / or utility representatives to address issues or concerns
Manages all code enforcement for the city
Carries out duties related to codes
Position Qualifications
The City of Erlanger is seeking a candidate with a Bachelors in Construction Management or Public Administration, with extensive work history or equivalent work experience for the Project Manager position. Successful candidates must be self-starting individuals that conduct themselves in a positive, trustworthy, and reliable manner. Successful candidates must have exceptional time-management skills, fundamental computer competency, and strong technical abilities. Desired candidates shall be extremely detail-oriented and possess strong communication skills—both verbal and written.
