Job Description:
This role is responsible for analyzing manufacturing processes for improvements using various methods of testing and inspection, driving quality improvements through problem solving, and ensure products are manufactured in compliance with customer specifications, safety standards and design specifications.
Essential Functions:
- Lead cross-functional team members supporting the customer feedback/complaint handling process & corrective action process
- Monitor product quality improvement to ensure execution of actions including any resulting customer communications/interactions
- Execute risk and impact assessments
- Interface directly with customers and internal groups
- Monitor Customer Claims and coordinate Sorts at the customer location
- Develop realistic solutions to meet customer needs and solve problems
- Strong root cause/corrective action skills
- Drive product and process changes to improve product quality
- Experience with problem solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5-whys, cause and effect, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced technical environment, absorb technical information, review technical information and make technical decisions
- Responsible to monitor FTQ
- Red Rabbit and Error Proofing
- Track and report quality metrics; analyze quality data to evaluate the effectiveness of current processes or proposed changes.
- Ongoing testing of parts (Functional, Dimensional, Physical properties, etc.)
- Control Plan
- Create Quality Alerts, and communicate to all applicable personnel, training as needed.
- Develop, In-Process Inspection forms
- Perform and analyze capability studies.
- Assist with creating, updating and maintaining Quality Documentation, Customer Contact Reports, Customer Sort Reports, Information Relating to Concerns, Procedures, etc.
- Interface with customer representative concerning non-conforming material/disposition, along with appropriate internal/external supplier problem analysis and corrective action activities (8D, etc.)
- Assemble and submit PPAP packages to the customer.
- Employee must have the ability to work additional hours and / or overtime as needed or assigned to complete job duties on time.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 3 years experience in automotive supplier quality/development
- Previous experience working Experience with APQP, ISO, IATF standards or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
- Ability to conduct Layered Audits
Preferred:
- Technical expertise with manufacturing processes (Injection Molding, Stamping, Assembly, Forming).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under demanding situations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis implementation
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering required.
