Job Summary
The communicable disease investigator (CDI) plans, develops, organizes and conducts complex work related to the investigation, prevention, and control of communicable diseases. The CDI will conduct case and contact investigation, partner notification, connection to services, and follow-up of individuals who have been diagnosed with infectious diseases (including STD/HIV, enteric diseases, tuberculosis, etc.); participate in outbreak control and contact investigation efforts; create and deliver targeted disease reporting using descriptive epidemiology; and provide health education about infectious disease signs, symptoms, and prevention. The CDI must exercise independent judgment, actively work to reduce stigma, maintain confidentiality, and consult with a wide variety of medical and community partners.

Annual salary range of:

This position guarantees two salary raises within your first year. Increases are given at the end of the 6 month probationary period and at the 1 year anniversary, as long as your performance is in good standing! Increases are given until the maximum of the salary range is reached.

Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND
-
1 years of work experience in Public Health, or other experience that includes STD/HIV or other communicable disease work is required. Areas of work including substance abuse treatment and prevention, mental health, reproductive health, medical counseling, etc. will also be considered.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least 6 months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications-

Experience working with diverse populations and as an effective member of a work team.

Knowledge of or training in the fields of public health, epidemiology, and data collection

Certification as Community Health Worker, Peer Support Specialist, or equivalent traditional health worker certification
