Job Summary: The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a critical member of the executive team, responsible for overseeing and coordinating nursing services within the organization. The ideal candidate for this role holds both a Registered Nurse (RN) license, as well as a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, combining clinical expertise with legal acumen to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and enhance patient care quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the nursing staff.
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting professional growth and development.
- Clinical Oversight:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across all nursing units.
- Oversee the development and implementation of clinical programs and initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing practices to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to all healthcare laws, regulations, and standards.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to manage and mitigate risk.
- Lead efforts to address and resolve legal issues related to nursing and patient care.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the nursing budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Quality Improvement:
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Use data-driven approaches to monitor and improve clinical performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other departments.
- Represent the organization in professional associations, community events, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [Insert State].
