Seeking Passionate Lawyers: Defend Baseball Fans from Foul Ball Injuries
Are you a formidable lawyer passionate about public safety or sports law? Foul Ball Safety Now is looking for Illinois-licensed attorneys and firms to protect baseball fans from the hazards of foul balls. The lack of netting in a handful of minor league ballparks across Illinois present low-hanging fruit for possible lawsuits to compel them to install more protective netting.
This is an opportunity to challenge the dangerous status quo in many Illinois cities where ballparks put fans at unnecessary risk of serious injury or death. Illinois is particularly ripe for attention on this matter, as several recent lawsuits have challenged the Baseball Rule and the 1993 Illinois Baseball Facility Liability Act, and a Cook County judge indicated a strong potential cause of action for willful and wanton conduct, finding that baseball “defendants had knowledge of a dangerous condition and injuries, as well as engaged in a course of action exhibiting a conscious disregard for the safety of others.”
Now is the perfect time to push forward with legal action, and this is certain to generate publicity for courageous attorneys who pursue justice on this matter. The door is open to learn more and together we can think creatively about how to make progress on this matter beyond the courts also — in the policy realm and in the court of public opinion, for example. Let’s start a dialog with other lawyers concerned about baseball fan safety, especially those who are parents since children face extreme risks and have suffered life-altering injuries from foul balls.
This could fulfill pro bono quotas for you or your firm, or we can offer a competitive rate of $175 per hour.
This role involves:
· Utilizing your robust legal expertise to champion fan safety within the corridors of justice.
· Preparing and filing legal complaints based on an established and successful model, starting with a case filed by one of our affiliated lawyers on behalf of a baseball fan seeking relief from the minor league Peoria Chiefs in Illinois.
· Pushing for injunctive relief to ensure the swift enactment of safety measures.
Seize this opportunity to spearhead a landmark legal movement. Together, we can make baseball a safer sport for all.
This is not just a legal challenge; it's a call for disruptive change through the courts and public discourse. Perhaps you recall conversations in law school about the Baseball Rule. It’s worthy of all of our time to finally put an end to it.
In 2019, ESPN highlighted this issue in a compelling 5-minute video (linked below) that clearly demonstrates the daily dangers fans face. It's time we come together to address this critical safety issue.
