Associate TD will have an expert knowledge of all relevant fabrics, adhesives trims that are used on all current and future projects and their behavior as they relate to one another.

Create prototyping samples using the latest fabrics and trims that are required for the program’s developing apparel and soft goods styles.

Use industrial machinery and lab equipment.

Develop and advise new possible constructions making sure they are feasible in the production environment.

Participate in design reviews.

Create Technical Specification Packages to communicate requirements for design aesthetic, fit, and construction.

Associate TD will understand and contribute to the integration of electronics and mechanical housings as they relate to apparel; recognize problem areas and think critically to generate solutions.

Participate and engage in all relative meetings related but not limited to apparel design, product development, concept reviews, program kickoffs.

Participate when needed in cross-functional meetings and discussions with Business Development, Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering teams.

Maintain complete and accurate records of apparel and soft goods samples measurements and specifications for all developed styles as advised by Apparel Team lead.

Participate in fitting with the fit model or on form.

Able to conduct design and fit reviews.

Associate TD will utilize and execute 2D and 3D pattern drafting software to optimize productivity through style libraries, pattern edits, and fit.

Create style sketches as well as detailed construction sketches using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop that live in TP and help factory understand and manufacture apparel and soft goods/accessories with correct construction.

Associate Technical Designer must be able to identify and manage risks of multiple configurations and make accurate assessments on correct design path in collaboration with other team members.

Measure, review, and evaluate specs and measurements of proto, FITs, PP, TOP, and size runs against specifications for fit, construction, and workmanship.

Implement design construction changes that come up with engineering revisions.

Organize daily workflow with Apparel Team lead, that adheres to HSI deliverables & development timelines.

Work on sourcing new innovative materials.

Understanding textiles, garment specifications, constructions, patternmaking, and grading is a must.

Hands-on experience of sewing, pressing, and cutting equipment.

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion design or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience.

Focused training in Technical Design, Pattern Making, Product Development or relevant experience preferred.

5+ years minimum industry experience (preferably within the Technical Design or Technical Development departments)

Sewing skills; ability to work basic industrial sewing/pressing equipment.

Good verbal and written communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills

Very strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Computer proficiency. Must know: MS office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)

Experience with Gerber Pattern Making System.
