Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) serves as the primary interface between WattBridge’s Asset Management team and PROENERGY’s O&M team to optimize asset O&M and deliver against commercial targets. The GM will be accountable to the VP Asset Management for execution of the portfolio’s risk management, capital planning & utilization, budget performance and operations optimization objectives. The GM is accountable for the safe operation and compliance of the portfolio, achieving reliability and availability targets, managing all aspects of maintenance (preventive, predictive, and corrective), and building a cohesive team that delivers excellence. The General Manager, in coordination with the Asset Management team, oversees financial planning and control, provision of resources, process improvements, and ensuring communication and reporting requirements are established with WattBridge.
Position Responsibilities
- Build and lead a dedicated team of motivated people to achieve business, operational, and maintenance goals.
- Partner with WattBridge to ensure alignment on goals and objectives and a close working interaction to deliver on portfolio P&L objectives and all compliance requirements.
- Establish a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. A leader with a proven track record to innovate new solutions and create business processes critical for a company to transition from a growth company to an operating company.
- Manages compliance requirements to include federal, state, and local regulations, plant permits, permit renewals, related data collection, and record keeping.
- Develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations.
- Oversee environmental and NERC compliance.
- Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, parts, Remote Operations Center (ROC), Advanced Monitoring and Predictive Solutions (AMPS) engineers, and human resources.
- Establish annual Plant Operating Plans (POP). These plans include goals and objectives, budget, training, and other related information.
- Review and improve work management practices. Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure the process achieves plant goals.
- Work jointly with Asset Management, Plant Superintendents, and a newly formed team consisting of a Business Manager, Plant Engineer, and Maintenance Manager to develop and implement key business, work management and project planning related processes.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration between Asset Management and O&M resources.
- Identify and establish a five-year major maintenance and capital project portfolio focusing on maintaining and improving plant reliability along with margin improvements.
- Oversee safe and successful execution of plant improvement projects.
- Establish plant budgets and implement cost controls and improvement techniques.
- Coordinate with Asset Management to develop and optimize capital and expense spend across a growing asset intensive organization. Support the Business Manager in monitoring O&M expenses and ensuring major maintenance and capital project processes are implemented within budget and schedule and continuously improved.
- Ensure project work scopes and schedules are developed for all outages aimed at improving equipment reliability, resource utilization, and successful project execution.
- Collaborate with other PES departments and company subject matter experts to coordinate activities and identify and spread best practices.
- Review and improve established procedures to procure and protect spare parts.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to ensure causes and contributing factors are identified and countermeasures implemented.
- Collaborate with Asset Management to identify, mitigate and manage generation portfolio risk.
- Collaborate with Asset Management to develop required monthly performance reporting.
- Establish effective maintenance, outage planning and execution.
- Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience improving and maintaining plant profitability.
- Demonstrated track record in successful safety performance.
- Proven experience managing multiple operating assets with a consistent daily run profile while achieving top decile operating performance.
- Successful track record in managing environmental and NERC compliance.
- Proven experience in $25M or larger, annual O&M budget development and execution
- Proven experience in risk-based capex planning and project execution
- Eight to ten years of power plant management experience.
- Proven history of developing people and teams.
- Experience with operations and maintenance of LM6000 desired.
- Experience with a portfolio consisting of 10+ operating units desired.
- Knowledge of the ERCOT market desired.

- Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Proficient in the use of various MS Office Suite programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.
- Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Usual office working conditions: noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
Additional Information
- Travel will be occasional, about 25% of the time, to plant sites in the Houston area and the corporate office in Sedalia, MO.
- Office environment at the McHard Road office location.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours as necessary, especially during critical issue resolution and to achieve project milestones.
