AmericaShare is a registered non-profit organization founded over 35 years ago. Our mission is to provide vulnerable children with access to learning resources and quality education in Nairobi, Kenya, and Cape Town, Southern Africa. Our libraries and computer centers are filled with children reading, studying, and gaining vital computer skills. AmericaShare has also provided hundreds of school scholarships to deserving children.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and strategic Donor Communications Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a strong background in crafting compelling messages that resonate with donors and supporters. This is a key role in developing and implementing communication strategies to engage, retain, and inspire our donor base.
In addition, this role serves as a liaison between staff members on a day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative basis.
Your daily responsibilities will be primarily concerned with, but not limited to the below:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive donor communications strategy aligned with AmericaShare's mission and goals·
- Executing donor/sponsor communications, including tax acknowledgment letters, thank you notes, and partner acknowledgments
- Coordinating mailings and email blasts to donors/sponsors throughout the year
- Communicating with new and ongoing donors/sponsors through email and phone calls
- Maintaining donor/sponsor database system and reporting
- Identify photo/videos for donor engagement and outreach
- Communicating with our teams in Nairobi and Cape Town on programmatic activities
- Providing administrational and program support as needed; including the preparation of documents and presentations, organizing meetings and travel, maintaining the company calendar, logistical support for projects and initiatives, and providing cross-functional support to team members in our country offices
About You
· You have exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with different offices and remote team members, as the projects grow and evolve.
· You are an excellent writer in a variety of mediums, including internal and external communications
· You are highly detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong implementation and follow-through skills.
· You are comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and wearing many hats.
· You are proactive and have a can-do and flexible attitude.
· You can maintain and manage confidential and sensitive data and records.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
· 10+ years of relevant work experience
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites of products.
· Strong knowledge in database management and CRM software – experience in e-Tapestry (Blackbaud) or Peak15 is a plus.
· Experience using MailChimp is a plus
· Experience or interest in non-profits, international development, education and/or youth empowerment is preferred
