Presbyterian Village a Premier Retirement Community in Austell is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to assist with managing and overseeing our skilled nursing department. The ideal candidate will help lead and manage a team of nurses, CNAs, and additional medical team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality care in compliance with all regulations and standards. QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse in good standing with a required current Georgia state license. Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience ideally in a skilled nursing facility. At least 2-3 years of prior experience as a successful Assistant Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager.
Working knowledge of PPC, PPS, MDS and paperless documentation highly preferred. Additionally, LTC and QIS survey knowledge is needed. Strong analytical, and critical thinking skills required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions necessary. Interested candidates must be approachable, flexible, and adaptable to change. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor staff, and a passion for working with senior adults.
KEY RESPONSIBLILITIES:
- Directs, coordinates, and supervises the functions and activities of the clinical areas and Special Care Unit and initiates corrective action, as necessary.
- Provides direct supervision to Team Leaders, Certified Nursing Assistants, and the Activity Program Coordinator on the Special Care Unit. Implements and enforces all nursing policies and procedures.
- Acts as a clinical resource person to all direct care staff, families and residents in matters related to resident care.
- Collaborates with nursing staff and appropriate staff in other departments to ascertain resident status and/or change of condition daily. Ensures that any change of condition is reported to the physician and family member/guardian on a timely basis and documented.
- Makes daily compliance rounds after reviewing 24-hour report, to assure quality standards of care are being met and initiate corrective actions, as necessary.
- Enforces infection control policies and procedures. Completes infection control reports and implements infection protocols as indicated. Observes staff maintenance of infection control and corrects according to facility policy and procedures.
- Assess residents’ response to medication and treatments and make appropriate recommendations for nursing action to be implemented.
- Participates in the care plan conferences with the care plan team, resident (when appropriate) and family members to establish and maintain an accurate comprehensive care plan. Complete reports for QA purposes as assigned. Review physician orders monthly for each resident and verifies correct transcription to the Medication Administration, Record, Treatment Administration Records, restorative flow sheets and diabetic records.
- Reviews for completeness and signs the resident MDS 2.0 and RAP Summary annually, quarterly and with any significant changes. Reviews resident MDS 2.0 face sheet for completeness and signs on admission.
- Reviews Medicare charts daily for proper documentation and takes corrective action, as necessary.
- Reviews decubitus charting, antipsychotic behavior records and intake and output records weekly for proper documentation and takes corrective action, as necessary. Reviews MARS, TARS, and diabetic records daily for proper documentation and ensures correct for follow-up.
- Ensures that all data is complete for admission, transfer, and discharge of residents. Reviews medical records audits, makes corrections when appropriate and returns them on a timely basis.
- Coordinates and participates in orientation for all staff assigned to Special Care Unit. Acts as a positive role model for Special Care Unit.
- Accepts the role as a staff educator upon request.
- Responsible for knowledge regarding Federal, State, and local nursing home rules and regulations.
- In cooperation with nursing and other appropriate personnel, designs and implements effective strategies to resolve and deficiencies identified in the Nursing Quality Assurance Audits and the State Licensure Survey.
- Coordinates auxiliary services of the dentist to ensure residents dental needs are followed up on.
- Assumes responsibilities of Director of Clinical Services when necessary.
- Communicates in an open, positive manner with residents, families, legal representatives, staff, and others.
- Creates and maintains a working atmosphere of warmth, positive emphasis, and a calm environment.
