A porter/ Lot Person.
A **lot porter** or **car porter** is responsible for maintaining and organizing a dealership's vehicle inventory and ensuring the lot remains clean and orderly. Here are some of the key duties and responsibilities:
- **Moving Vehicles**: Transporting vehicles to different locations within the dealership lot or to and from customers
- **Customer Service**: Assisting prospective buyers by bringing vehicles to them and providing general customer service
- **Cleaning and Maintenance**: Cleaning the interiors and exteriors of vehicles, performing light maintenance tasks like topping off fluids, and ensuring vehicles are regularly started and checked for issues
- **Lot Organization**: Keeping the dealership lot clean by picking up trash, removing snow or ice, and organizing vehicles properly
- **Inventory Management**: Managing vehicle inventory, including documenting vehicle locations and VIN numbers
- **Support Tasks**: Running errands for various departments, such as sales, parts, and auto body, and assisting with showroom maintenance¹.
Lot porters need to be trustworthy, responsible, and flexible in their duties to support the overall operations of the dealership.
