About the Role
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits administration, and excellent employee support. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed records, complying with tax and labor regulations, and streamlining processes to enhance employee experience.
What You Will Do:
Payroll Processing

Collect, verify, and process time and attendance data, including regular wages, overtime, PTO, and other adjustments.

Calculate payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Prepare and issue accurate paychecks or direct deposits on a scheduled basis.

Review and reconcile payroll reports to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

Respond to employee inquiries about payroll, deductions, and tax withholding in a timely and helpful manner.

Maintain accurate payroll records and generate reports as needed.

Enroll new employees in various benefit plans such as health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement.

Conduct new-hire benefits orientations and provide information on plan options.

Process benefit changes, terminations, and qualifying life events.

Coordinate open enrollment activities and communicate changes to employees.

Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure compliance with regulations.

Address employee queries related to benefits coverage, eligibility, and claims resolution.

Partner with benefits providers to resolve issues and stay updated on plan offerings.
Other Responsibilities

Assist with worker's compensation administration, including timely claims submission and coordination with insurance carriers.

Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and benefits information.

Stay updated on changing payroll and benefits laws, regulations, and best practices.

Collaborate with the HR team on various projects as required.
What you will need:

Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.

A bachelor's degree in human resources, accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or other relevant professional certification is highly desirable.

Strong payroll regulations and compliance knowledge, including tax laws and wage calculations.

Understanding benefit plan principles (health insurance, retirement plans, etc.).

Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems (Rippling).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.

Being bilingual is a must.

Traveling to Utah and Arizona during open enrollment.

Compensation for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience.
