Duties and Responsibilities: (Please note: This position supports both campuses and will require travel weekly to both Prosper and Plano.)
Curriculum related duties:
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers and leadership.
Develop and provide professional learning opportunities for staff.
Meet with and support principals as instructional leaders of their division.
Support learning by being part of PLCs, meeting with teachers, observing instruction, and addressing needs
Support goals of accreditation and ongoing implementation of accreditation requirements
Support the development of our curriculum by learning, inputting, and collaborating with teachers and C&I team
Support co-curricular activities as needed (academic competitions, judging, and evaluating 1st-12th grade)
Assist in the planning and implementation of any new curriculum resources provided.
Assist teachers in meeting goals through coaching discussions that support student learning.
Assist in ensuring that units and lessons plans are developed consider PCA’s Portrait of a Graduate
Train, assist, evaluate, and develop Biblical Worldview Planners alongside our teachers to ensure each unit is supported with biblical principles.
Review testing data and help teachers interpret results to help inform next steps and needs for instruction.
Assist in the onboarding of new instructional staff.
Other duties as assigned relating curriculum and instruction.
Specialized Learning related duties:
Assist with the Specialized Learning Review process and Kid Talk meetings.
Assist Learning Lab teachers with yearly review conferences for each student monitored by the Lab.
Track students listed on Specialized Learning Review.
Assist with developing appropriate SSP with the help of Lab personnel.
Set up, maintain, and manage student records with the assistance of Lab personnel.
Provide instructional and test taking assistance during peak times (SAT, ACT, Finals, and AP testing).
Assist with developing a Learning Lab curriculum.
Assist with training teachers for implementation of accommodations in the classroom.
Assist students not under direct supervision that enter the lab for assistance if needed.
Meet/train teachers and staff on how to recognize and meet the needs of students with disabilities.
Experience presenting professional development sessions for PCA staff and parents.
Attend all PCA required training and professional learning opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and the Director of Specialized Learning.
Qualifications:
Degree in Special Education, Curriculum, or related field preferred.
Experience serving as a Special Education teacher is preferred.
Experience in writing and aligning learning standards and curriculum.
Experience in delivering professional learning sessions for adults.
Experience in working with students that have a learning difference.
Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal and personal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft products: Windows and Office
Prestonwood Baptist Church member preferred.
Physical, Mental Requirements and Work Environment:
Regularly sit, talk, walk, hear, and to visually intercept visitors
Computer work at the computer requiring repetitive finger motion and manual dexterity
Good vision is required (with correction) due to the need for focusing ability and close vision. Color discrimination, peripheral vision and depth perception are also important
Be able to occasionally lift between 5 - 10 pounds
Works at desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time
Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment and occasional outside travel between buildings
Ability to handle moderate stress level as position requires multi-tasking and frequent interruptions
