Full time, permanent position. Small Endocrinology medical clinic needs person to work closely with providers and patients, handle Prior Authorization requests, make appointments, handle patient intake including vitals, perform testing, answer phones, call patients, transfer medical documents electronically, process patient requests (prescription requests, lab reports, etc.), import lab reports and other documents into patient charts, and more. Ability to anticipate needs, intelligently prioritize your work and work as part of a team is essential. Working efficiently and having excellent communication skills is critical.
Being able to work efficiently and intelligently is #1 priority. We are understaffed and you will be expected to accomplish a lot every day. Roughly in order of priority: applicants will:
- Be very comfortable with computers and software applications.
- Process Prior Authorization (PA) requests for medications, supplies and devices. Experience with PAs highly desirable.
- Work well with coworkers and as a team member.
- Schedule referrals, reschedule existing patients.
- Handle incoming faxes and patient portal messages.
- Room and vital patients – including updating patient history, medications, etc.
- Process patient requests (lab orders, prescription requests, etc.)
- know MS Word, Excel.
- be willing to assist with medical procedures, and performing simple tests on patients.
- have a willingness to learn, and keep learning, especially medical terminology, medications, and medical technology.
- be personable and know how to talk with people in a friendly and helpful manner; without wasting time.
Pay will grow with demonstrated skills and efficiency.
Hours will be 6:30 - 5:00 Mon-Thu or 7:00 - 5:30 Mon-Thu; with 1/2 hour off for lunch every day. We are closed Fridays (3-day weekends!).
Additional requirements:
- Willingness to work later on some days required.
- Must be able to type at least 20 WPM
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, efficiently and continuously is required.
- Medical background is required. Willingness to learn about our specialty is very important.
