BASIC FUNCTION:
This position is primarily responsible for developing job sites and securing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities referred for job placement. Assists the Community Employment Manager with marketing and public relations activities. Will also serve as a back up to the Employment Specialists as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Primary responsibility will involve identifying and contacting employers to assess interest in training and employing disabled individuals and securing these opportunities.
2. Market the Supported Employment program and procure contracts from industry and businesses for agency employment sites.
3. Place new referrals employees into competitive employment opportunities. Goals determined by department.
4. Assist Community Employment Manager with referrals process and coordinate suitable job matches.
5. Assist Community Employment Manager in providing pre-placement activities for trainees, i.e. completing job applications, developing job interview skills, and assisting individuals in identifying specific employment interest.
6. Assist Employment Specialist with monthly follow-up visits.
7. Assist Community Employment Manager in community awareness; public relations activities (including ADA, employment for individuals with disabilities, agency services).
8. Provide supervisor with timely submission of reports detailing job development activity.
9. Perform other assignments as requested by the Community Employment Manager or Chief Operating Officer.
10. Will comply with the agency’s Ethical Conduct Policy.
11. Attend in-service trainings as requested by supervisor and/or administrative staff. Complete all trainings that are identified as mandatory.
12. Commitment to adhering to safe and healthy practices by complying with workplace safety and health policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: SKILLS:
1. Above average to outstanding written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.
2. Possess marketing skills with energetic and dynamic style.
3. Willingness and desire to interact with the business industry, employers, various professionals, co-workers, program supervisors, etc.
4. Great consumer advocacy and ability to develop jobs suitable to a referrals skills and interests.
5. Ability to conform to Abilities attendance requirements and report regularly to work.
EDUCATION/LICENSES:
1) Bachelor or associates degree in Human Services or the rehabilitation field from an accredited college preferred or HS Diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related experience
2) Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers/scanners.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position may require lifting and long periods of standing.
TRAVEL:
Travel to Abilities locations will be required. Travel may also be required for certain training events as mandated by the state. You may be eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Pay: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour
