The Director of Business Development & Customer Success will direct sales and strategy efforts for a growing multi-state wholesale utility distributor based in Austin, Texas. This role will focus on business development with existing clients in addition to establishing new clients. This individual will achieve best results by working directly with the customer and partnering with the sales team to focus on overlaying new products and services.
This position operates in a professional office environment, and will be expected to travel as needed.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic support to the dispersed matrix geographic sales team.
- Conduct monthly collaboration with the sales team based out of each warehouse location.
- Develop and implement opportunity tracking for each sales representative and client relationship whether new or existing.
- Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with each major client along with the sales team.
- Maintain KPI tracking for each major client in between QBR’s including order fill rate, on time performance, etc…
- Work with senior management to identify service improvement needed for customer retention and growth.
- Quickly develop product application knowledge and work with partner manufacturers to pursue new business opportunities.
- Partner with the IT Director for the appropriate technology enablement of the sales team.
- Develop milestone celebrations of success that foster a results driven environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel requirements: 25% to 50% travel
Qualifications and Requirements
- 4-year college degree in supply chain, marketing, business management, or related field.
- 10+ years of successful business development experience.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent professional and interpersonal skills
- Legally authorized to work in the United States

- Focus on personal training and development along with that of the sales team.
- Achieve successful outcomes without daily supervision while escalating key roadblocks/issues with senior management.

- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Including the ability to create and conduct invigorating presentations with the client.
- Do not just provide reporting to management, be an active participant and achieve positive outcomes.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
