Job Summary
The Automotive Pattern Designer rapidly designs, cuts, assembles, and tests upholstery for modern vehicles. Additionally, the Pattern Designer records information including but not limited to BOM, Routing, WC, and sewing instructions. Ensures patterns are developed and tested through practical and digital means. The job requires a fast paced and high accuracy development cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include the following (other duties may be as):
- Supply training and working template documents for all seat upholstery items.
- Work closely with other upholsterers and Program Manager to ensure timely delivery of upholstered products and support information.
- Develop cohesive stylish fabric patterns that meet global safety standards.
- Build and develop patterns that work for materials with different elasticity.
- Understand the operation and functionality of a Side impact airbag sewing machine designed for the upholstery cover.
- Develop BOM and Routing information to be transferred to data entry personnel.
- Need to be flexible to multiple projects running simultaneously.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Proficient in digitizing patterns, File Organization, Pattern smith, Lectra, and other upholstery and cutting software.
- Ability to create and run files and operate CNC embroidery mac hines
- Ability to create run files and operate CNC sewing machines.
- Strong ability to Sew with industrial sewing machines: SIngle needle, double needle, double needle post, etc.
- Extensive experience and working knowledge of Automotive interior soft goods fitment and design.
- Strong ability to problem solve and create repeatable solutions for unskilled labor tasks.
- Strong ability to teach unskilled labor on the production line.
Preferences
- Bi-lingual Spanish and English
- 7+ years in Automotive upholstery pattern development with digital scanning and cut file creation and maintenance.
Special Position Requirements
- Ability to sew upholstery, create patterns, adjust sewing machines.
- Experience with remvoal, installatiuon, recreation, design and enhancement of all components of automotive interiors.
- Must have a working knowledge of trim tools as well as basic hand tools required to remove and install automotive seats and upholstery.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move about the factory floor
- Must be able to lift, bend, sit, stand, speak, hear, and use a computer for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
