TRAFFIC ENGINEER
Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience as a Transportation Engineer or equivalent with a diverse background in roadway construction, traffic control, or traffic analysis (To be considered for the role, you must have at least two of the three specified backgrounds as part of your experience.)
Ability to navigate steep and/or uneven terrain
ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor certificate
Possession of a valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
As the Traffic Engineer, the selected candidate will oversee implementation of temporary traffic control and strategies for projects, adhering to national and state standards
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Traffic Engineer will:
Conduct field reviews and recommend appropriate traffic control measures during project construction
Operate personal vehicle to evaluate project traffic control setups in the field
Independently provide technical expertise and guidance on traffic control strategies
Ensure project traffic control adheres to agency policies, MUTCD standards, and engineering principles
Analyze and evaluate proposals for traffic control revisions and detours
Coordinate closures effectively with other projects and local agencies to avoid conflicts
Thoroughly analyze and evaluate submitted traffic control plans, detours, and staging plans
Provide guidance to Project Managers in regards to temporary Traffic Control Plan
Analyze roadway capacity and develop closure restrictions for holidays and special events
Provide feedback to Project Management and Field Teams in regards to RFIs and potential changes needed in Traffic Control Plan
