Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Sr. Student Program Coordinator for the Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC), a transformative college access and success program that fosters the academic, social, and personal development of talented students from all walks of life with a desire to make a difference in their communities and beyond. With an innovative curriculum centered on themes of “Local Citizenship in a Global World,” HLLC students live and learn at Rutgers University–Newark (RU–N) with students from all over the world. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of the Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC), this position’s primary responsibility will be assisting the HLLC Community by contributing to the development and implementation of culturally responsive support infrastructures aimed at fostering the holistic success of HLLC scholars from admission through graduation.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Supporting the HLLC administrative team in providing programmatic assistance for initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic, psycho-social, and leadership development of HLLC scholars.
- Assists with implementing and assessing innovative and evidence-based programming and approaches.
- Helps coordinate and implement the HLLC’s admissions process in partnership with the Office of Admissions.
- Works collaboratively with the HLLC Deans and other university partners to enhance services and program outcomes for HLLC scholars.
- Assists in implementing co-curricular initiatives that foster seamless learning, leadership development, and success for HLLC scholars. These initiatives include but are not limited to the HLLC Peer Mentoring Initiative and Peer Academic Support Communities (PASC), identity-based leadership and discussion groups, and the HLLC Student Council.
- Collaborates with other RU-N units, including the Office of Student Life, the Office of Health Promotions, and the CARE team, to provide wrap-around services to support the holistic development of HLLC scholars.
