Job summary:
Provide supervision to clients in the acute withdrawal management program, monitor for behavioral changes or inappropriate behavior. Demonstrate effective critical thinking and other problem-solving skills. Accurately convey client behavior and status, intervention use, client response and client progress both verbally and in writing to clients, families and members of the treatment team. Respond to client needs, concerns, and maintain appropriate order and safety for all clients.
Utilize seclusion and restraint in emergency situations per WAC 246.337.110; ensure all procedures are followed and relevant medical staff are contacted in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
An Associates or Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field. May substitute high school graduate or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience in social work, nursing home, behavioral health or hospital. Preference will be given to candidates with C.N.A./ N.A.R certification. Must have a genuine concern for people, ability to relate to people, be reliable, and conscientious.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit, stand, and walk. Must be able to lift to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Moderate noise (business office with computers, printers, light traffic).
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1.Ensure the physical safety of residents and staff; safely and therapeutically intervene with patients exhibiting high risk behaviors. Demonstrate de-escalation skills by utilizing the least restrictive interventions possible.
2.In emergency situations, utilize seclusion and restraint in a manner that is safe, proportionate and appropriate to the severity of the behavior, the resident’s chronological and developmental age, size, gender, physical, medical and psychiatric condition and personal history.
3.Adhere to WAC 246.337.110 when performing seclusion and restraint; follow procedures and contact medical staff in a timely manner.
4.Recognize and report significant changes in patient condition communicate therapeutically with patients at all times.
5.Maintain professional and therapeutic boundaries.
6.Manage the safety and security of patient’s personal property
7.Listen to client concerns and resolve the matter and/or refers the client to the appropriate staff member for resolution.
8.Properly inventory client’s property on arrival and discharge. This requires clients to bring their belongings to their workstation.
9.Keep accurate, legible written log of events that take place during your shift.
10. Using progress notes, keep clinicians informed daily of any activities concerning clients on their case load.
11. Complete Progress Notes, Rule Violation, Incident Reports and other paperwork as needed.
12. Enforce rules and regulations related to resident activities and behavior.
13. Ensure the completion and accuracy of all intakes and discharge
14. Provide support and assistance if qualified, whenever and wherever needed to assure quality services for agency consumers.
15.Ability to take written and verbal orders.
16.Perform other related duties as assigned.
17. Respond to the directives of the supervisor and management staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
18. Assure that all ABHS’ clients’ needs are met with dignity and respect and in a timely manner.
19. Make decisions based on the welfare of the client, the success of the team, and the quality and integrity of the program.
20. Understand and facilitate federal confidentiality laws, 42 CFR, and protects client confidentiality/anonymity, and assures no information is shared without proper authorization.
21. Ensure compliance to contractual obligations, ABHS policies, and State statues (WACs).
