Arencibia’s operating and maintenance function is based in Quakertown, PA.
As a Controls Engineering Group Leader, you will lead a Team to develop and maintain PLC and HMI hardware and software for industrial gas recovery systems at large manufacturing facilities. You will work closely with our Projects, Engineering (Controls, Process, Mechanical) to coordinate and deliver electrical and automation system software for new facilities and to provide Operations support for existing facilities. You will also be a steward for PLC and HMI systems best practices by taking ownership of hardware and software standards.
Controls Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee electrical design for projects and standardization
- Coordinate with Project management to develop budget and schedule for electrical/automation scope of work
- Assign resources for hardware and software system design development
- Review P&IDs for accuracy and feasibility
- Develop scopes of work to perform design, installation, and programming work on behalf of Arencibia
- Review and provide technical feedback on vendor proposals
- Create IO lists, functional specs, to direct hardware and software designers
- Specify and order electrical and controls components
- Establish hardware and software interfaces between customer system(s) and ARS
- Ability to generate, oversee or perform FATs for control panels and pre-fabricated skids
- Support installation, system start up and commissioning
- Serve as technical liaison between backend hardware, software, project management and operation teams
Controls Engineer candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 5 years of experience in controls automation design and engineering.
- Two years in a management role.
- Strong leadership with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Advanced analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Subject matter expert in areas including engineering best practices, automation design, equipment selection, manufacturing,
- Solid experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell environment (RSLogix, ControlLogix), operator interfaces (Allen-Bradley Panelbuilder, RSStudio), and version-control and/or multi-PLC management (Application Code Manager, AssetCentre).
- Ability to read and understand Electrical Schematics and Process Flow Diagrams /P&IDs
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, NPFA 70E, and electrical safety standards and best practices.
- Understanding of process control (PID setup & tuning, feedforward & feedback, etc)
- Familiarity with Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA, Secomea SiteManager, and Amazon Web Services
- Experience in the industrial gas industry or in a manufacturing industry that requires the use of industrial gas.
- Ability to take over existing designs, gain full understanding, troubleshoot, correct problems and make improvements.
- Provide timely feedback and hold employees accountable for achieving results.
- High degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
