What will you do?
This is a multifaceted position, which includes the following:
You will represent Oregon State Police, Forensic Science Division in a positive, professional manner and treat each customer with respect. You will be an integral part of the laboratory system and the required attention to detail is critical for the success of the FSD.
You will maintain security and protect evidence according to laboratory procedures ensuring that the chain of custody is maintained, including handling of hazardous and contaminated evidence. You will be the first to enter OSP forensic laboratory into the chain of custody for each criminal case and failure to do this correctly could jeopardize the prosecution of the case.
You will assist law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and the public, as well as provide internal support for laboratory staff.
You will work with little to no supervision and require independent judgment regarding course of action and ability to interpret and make decisions, some of which may be non-routine. Occasionally you may be the only OSP FSD representative in the laboratory and will be responsible for interpreting rules, policies and procedures, and applying them to certain situations that are routine and non-routine.
You will deal with sensitive issues that require confidentiality and must be handled with tact and diplomacy.
You will work together as a team with other OSP personnel to ensure that laboratory goals are met.

Minimum Qualifications (these must be addressed in your resume for full consideration):
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills;
OR
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

Demonstrated experience supporting a professional program including development and support of training programs.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide range of diverse audiences including internal and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently, without direct supervision, and collaboratively with a diverse team.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy, meet deadlines, pivot to meet the changing needs of the work unit and respond in a professional manner under stress.
Demonstrated experience interpreting rules, policies and procedures, and applying them to both routine and non-routine situations.
