Covelo Group is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Educational Services team immediately for a June and July summer assignment!!
As a school-based COTA, you will work under the direction of an occupational therapist to offer OT services to students according to the parameters outlined in their individual education plans (IEP). In this position, your primary goal is to help students overcome physical limitations in order to be successful in the classroom and develop essential life skills. Your students will vary in age from grades K - post secondary students with extensive support needs, or as determined by the school district.
Your compassion, composure, and ability to meet the needs of students who require specialized OT support will contribute to your own success in this role. Our ideal candidate is versatile and willing to collaborate with a diverse group of students, educators, and administrators.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting with OT evaluations, documenting student interventions and progress, and relaying observations to a supervising OT.
- Guiding interventions focused on developing fine and gross motor skills, sensory-motor skills, play and social skills, and/or basic self-care.
- Setting up equipment for OT interventions and regularly cleaning and organizing OT equipment and the classroom.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program that is approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Prior COTA experience working in a school setting is preferred but not required.
- Current California state license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA).
- Certification (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- BLS certification.
