Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the part-time, temporary (12 months, Tuesday mornings 2-4 hours a week) position of ISEE Lay Screener. Lay Screener has been defined as a person who is not a healthcare provider yet has the dedication and interest to participate in the vision screening of school age children.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with school-age children
- Good communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to read and follow instructions, copy, and record names and numbers
- Ability to travel to clinical site
- Dependable, punctual, good attendance record
- High School diploma or GED
- Enjoys working with children
- Comfortable learning new technology
Exclusion Criteria:
- Doctor of Optometry, Medicine or Osteopathy
ISEE Lay Screener Requirements for Certification:
- Review and maintain a thorough understanding of each ISEE vision screening procedure and any associated video(s)
- Complete form documentation training
- Demonstrated ability to perform screening tests on children
- Submission of a minimum of 3 or 4 (TBD) screening forms for each screening test on a minimum of 3 or 4 (TBD) children
- Completion of the ISEE General Knowledge Assessment
- Completion of lay screener-specific Knowledge Assessment for each screening session
- Documentation of up-to-date completion of human subject and Good Clinical Practice training
- Certification in CPR for children is recommended, but not required
- Completion of site-specific requirements (e.g. background check)
Hourly Rate: $30 an hour
