Santa Monica Proper Hotel is seeking a highly organized Meeting & Event Services Manager. This key role ensures the success of meetings and events, serving as the liaison between the hotel operating departments and the client while striving to maximize both service and profitability.
A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, our 271-room property features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by local area culinary stars, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, and 24,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Job Overview

Build and foster relationships with clients by creating and coordinating meetings and events·

Generate detailed group resumes, Banquet Event Orders, diagrams, rooming lists, and other necessary documents and communicate those with Hotel Department Heads and operations teams

Assist with distribution of all outgoing office communication (“distribution”) in compliance with department standards

Assist in the development and implementation of effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues

Optimize room rental charges and event upsell opportunities

Assist with the monthly forecasting and the annual budget process

Handle special projects as requested by the Director of Event Sales and Director of Sales & Marketing

Ensure that events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy

Greet customer during the event phase and hands-off to the Event Operations team for the execution of details

Ensure billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with the clients prior to processing the final bill

Manage group room blocks and meeting space for groups and events

Identify operational challenges associated with his/her group and determines how to best work with the property staff and customer to solve these challenges and/or develop alternative solutions

Participate in customer site inspections and assists with the sales process as necessary

Lead formal pre-event and post-event meetings for small to average-sized assigned groups

Facilitate Banquet Event Order and Resume Meetings
Qualifications

1-2 years administrative or management experience in Event Services and/or Event Sales

Passion and interest in hospitality and Events industry with focus on Food and Beverage

Appreciation and knowledge of diverse Events calendar with facility and experience in both corporate and wedding/social markets

Self-directed, motivated, and entrepreneurial manager demonstrating intuitive customer service and interpersonal skills

Excels in both written and oral communication

Has exceptional attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and time management skills

Multi-tasks and prioritizes with a positive attitude in a fast-paced work environment

Is technologically savvy, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Delphi/Amadeus, Infor/HMS, and Social Tables preferred
