GENERAL SUMMARY
The basic duties of a Millwright is to understand the design and function of equipment installed at the facility and demonstrate an ability to clean, inspect, calibrate, repair and replace equipment in a safe and productive manner. A Millwright must also demonstrate an ability to fabricate pieces and parts from raw materials using metal working tools and machines
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The job duties listed below are typical examples of the work performed by the Power Plant Millwright. Not all duties assigned to this position are included. Power Plant Millwright’s may be asked to perform other duties and requirements may vary.
· Monitors and maintains facility equipment and machinery including pumps, valves, hydraulics, steam turbines and feed-water pumps as well as other equipment, to ensure safe and efficient equipment and facility operation.
· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to equipment and systems with minimal supervision in compliance with established company procedures and policies.
· Initiates and completes work-orders as directed.
· Troubleshoots equipment, diagnoses problems, plans, and executes repairs.
· Demonstrates and ability to anticipate potential and recurring problems and provides solutions.
· Demonstrate an ability to effectively utilize maintenance tools such as welders, cutting torches, grinders, saws, milling machines, lathes, measuring tools, electrically powered and manual hand tools typically used for industrial maintenance.
· Knowledgeable in the practices of rigging, hoisting, and the load bearing capabilities of equipment and tooling associated with the positioning, movement, and assembly of equipment.
· Must be able to read and understand mechanical and process blueprints and technical instructions.
· Knowledge of heavy-duty mobile equipment including loaders, high lifts, cranes, and forklifts..
· Responds and reports to work during process upset conditions when emergency support is required.
· Take proactive steps to make improvements to plant equipment and processes.
· Follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety, and environmental hazards, and reports them to supervision as necessary.
· Attends safety meetings and training programs and participates in plant safety programs as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned and directed by Maintenance supervision and Plant Management
· Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, pre-job briefings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
· Uses good written and verbal communication, including documentation of work orders, professional communication with colleagues and management, and while using a two-way radio.
· This position will require overtime during planned maintenance outages as well as during system or process upset conditions, and unscheduled plant outages.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Power Plant Millwright reports to the Maintenance Manager and may also take direction from other members of the Plant Management team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience
- 2 years minimum experience as a Mechanic.
- Power Plant experience preferred.
- Experience with welding and fabrication preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and will be exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, confined spaces, elevated areas, dirt, ash particles and fuel particles.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to work on feet for extended periods.
- Requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders in order to work on the boiler and other plant structures. Must be able to work from heights.
- Will be exposed to vibration, moving mechanical parts and loud noises.
- Must be capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc. in the performance of job duties.
- Must be able to interface effectively with plant mechanical and control systems.
- Must be able to work in confided spaces.
- Working with hazardous materials may be required.
- All employees are required to comply with the Substance Abuse policy, which includes but is not limited to a post-offer drug screen and physical examination.

Pay: $36.00 - $45.00 per hour
