Overview:
As an integral part of Southport's operational structure, the Logging Supervisor, reporting directly to the Resource Manager, assumes responsibility for the efficient management of Southport Logging operations. This encompasses ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance, overseeing the scheduling of logging and road construction jobs, and actively seeking out contract work opportunities. The Logging Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining day-to-day operations, meeting production targets, and fostering effective communication within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage Southport Logging Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of logging and road building crews to ensure smooth functioning. Ensure that production targets are met consistently through effective resource utilization and management.
2. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety plans, OSHA requirements, and relevant environmental regulations among logging crew members. Collaborate closely with the Safety and Environmental Manager to maintain compliance with safe work practices and conduct necessary training sessions for the logging crew. Maintain accurate documentation of safety training records and conduct monthly safety inspections of logging operations. Perform regular environmental inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
3. Scheduling Logging and Road Construction Jobs: Develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule for both ongoing and future logging and road construction projects. Efficiently schedule the deployment of lowboys, cutters, and trucking to minimize downtime between jobs. Keep the Resource Manager and forestry team updated on any changes or modifications to the schedule.
4. Finding Contract Work: Forge and nurture relationships with timber owners to identify potential logging and road building job opportunities. Actively seek out new contract work opportunities to sustain and expand Southport's logging operations.
5. General/Other: Ensure effective communication and collaboration with other company personnel and management to facilitate smooth operations. Undertake any additional duties as assigned by senior management to support the overall objectives of the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in forestry/logging operations management.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, foster teamwork, and drive continuous improvement.
- Pass a mandatory drug test
- Ability to demonstrate a driving record that meets Southport's requirements for operating a company vehicle.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
