Job Summary
Facilitates integration of clinical and non-clinical information and knowledge to support patients, nurses and other providers in decision-making through the use of information structures, standardized clinical content, processes and technology. Collaborates with Patient Care Services leadership regarding clinical workflow to ensure successful implementation of technology that benefits patient care and achieves expected outcomes.

Essential Functions:
- Facilitates integration of clinical and non-clinical information and knowledge to support patients, nurses and other providers in decision-making through the use of information structures, standardized clinical content, processes and technology.
- Collaborates with Patient Care Services leadership regarding clinical workflow to ensure successful implementation of technology that benefits patient care and achieves expected outcomes.
- Partners with Information Technology, Patient Care Services (PCS), medical and operational leaders in assessing new informatics technology opportunities that impact/improve clinical documentation, workflow efficiency and patient safety.
- Serves as liaison to software vendors and HIS/IT Department to understand release schedules for software enhancements.
- Collaborates in planning, developing, refining and evaluation of clinical documentation training programs. Creates and ensures adherence to PCS informatics project timelines, scope definitions and operational budgets.
- Accountable for defining, securing, and appropriating resources to meet goals related to nursing informatics and projects.
- Serves as an active member of the Information Services and Nursing leadership team.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Has a strong technical and clinical background to be effective in both Nursing and Informatics.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills and ability to work through issues in a professional manner.
- Possesses strong project management and problem solving skills.
- Excellent skills in written/oral communication including group facilitation, presentation and communication.
- Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated skills in analytical, strategic and project management and process redesign.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, i.e., CMS, The Joint Commission, DPH.
- Demonstrated competency in financial management to assist in the development of financial management tools.
- Flexibility to respond and adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
- B.S. in Nursing, Nursing Information Systems, Nursing Informatics or related field required.
- Progressive experience to include a minimum of five years clinical nursing experience in a hospital environment
- Strong knowledge of nursing workflow, practice standards and clinical documentation requirements and two years of clinical informatics nursing experience.
Sedentary - Light Work - Lifting up to 15 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes). While work is mostly done sitting, a certain amount of walking or standing is often necessary.
