Located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, United Process Controls (UPC) designs and manufactures industrial flow measurement and control products primarily used in the heat treating industry.
Position:
A Field Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning industrial control equipment. The role requires extensive travel and the ability to solve problems quickly in various settings, particularly for controllers, combustion systems, and other electromechanical devices. This position also works with customers, provides in and out-of-office technical assistance via telephone for new and existing UPC products. The person in this position may be required to supervise system installations, provide customer training and troubleshoot system problems with UPC products and controls used in the industrial heat treating industry.
Primary Duties:
Commissioning & Start Up of newly installed systems, consisting of electrical/ mechanical setup, checkout, control loop tuning, and operator training.
Routine maintenance of customer systems to include calibration checks, tuning and troubleshooting of operational problems, equipment repair and replacement.
Provides customers with system operations, maintenance, modification, and upgrade recommendations.
Provide post commissioning feedback to UPC Operations that enables continuous improvement of UPC’s execution and product offerings
Work in and around automotive, aerospace, and other industrial manufacturing plants near heavy machinery and high temperature furnaces.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment.
This position requires travel to UPC customer sites for design reviews, equipment troubleshooting, and commissioning. Typical travel is approximately 50% - with peaks and lulls. Travel duration for a typical field-call is 1-2 days at a time. Travel for project start ups is 3-5 days for smaller projects and can extend longer, but typically would not extend beyond 1 week. Travel for Preventative Maintenance is typically 3 days on site with 2 travel days. Position will be located in Oak Creek, WI when not traveling.
Applicant must have US passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for commissioning and supporting UPC products and projects.
- Ability to read engineering drawings including Mechanical Assemblies, P&IDs, Control Wiring Diagrams, and Field Wiring Diagrams
- Ability to independently use electronic measuring equipment such as multimeters, digital manometers, and gas analyzers; and interpret the data being produced by these devices.
- General knowledge of safety requirements in an industrial environment
- Ability to write detailed and comprehensive reports after site visits
