NewportMed is a medical billing company located in Frisco, TX and we are currently looking for a full-time patient account representative. This person would be responsible for taking incoming calls from medical patients to assist with their questions and concerns regarding billing and EOBs. He or She will also be responsible for making outbound calls to collect on past due accounts as well as other clerical tasks assigned by the patient account manager. We are seeking candidates who are motivated, hard-working, and detail oriented.
Schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 10am to 7pm
Responsibilities:
Superior customer service skills, ability to multi-task and function in a high volume, fast paced, team environment
- Responsible for answering high-volume incoming calls for claims-related and statement inquiries from patients and insurance companies.
- Responsible for making outbound calls on delinquent accounts in an effort to resolve the account via patient payment.
- Performing account adjustments and patient credit transfers
- Thorough understanding of medical industry and superior customer service standards
- Work with aged accounts to bring them current through constant follow up and analytical skills
- Prepares delinquent accounts to be reviewed by practices and Patient Account Team Lead for outside collections
- Position requires experience with physician billing, patient contact and ability to settle patient disputes
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Position requires 2+ years experience in customer service and patient billing within the medical industry
- 1+ years of NextGen experience is PREFERRED
- Bilingual in Spanish is PREFERRED
- Prior experience reading EOB's for Medi-Cal/Medicare, PPO, HMO/IPA and Workers’ Compensation and ability to assess and verify true patient liability amounts due
- Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding and general practices of claims processing
- Professional demeanor, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional phone etiquette required
- Ability to review and validate credits to be refunded and validate recoupment demands for appropriate handling
- Experience in a managed care environment in the area of billing/collections.
- Must have 10-key by touch, Proficient MS Excel and Word.
- Previous patient medical billing, EPM, EHR experience. NextGen, Centricity and/or eClinical Works experience a plus
