Direct Service Professional – IDD Adults
Activity Options LLC, a growing, progressive company in Arvada, CO, has an opening for an experienced Direct Service Professional to join our community based day program. This team facilitates community activities for high functioning adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are hiring experienced professionals who are passionate about finding meaningful, varied activities day in and day out. Involves transporting clients in Company owned vehicles. The base location is in Arvada but could start in south east Denver.
Schedules are Monday - Friday for 6-8 hours. Must be able to work occasional weekend and/or holidays. ability to investigate community and handle a small group of individuals. We offer competitive compensation, paid holidays, time off and profit sharing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Pickup and drive 5-6 individuals for Supported Community Connection day program, guiding them through relational or behavioral challenges, health concerns and socialization efforts. Occasionally you will meet up with other groups in our program.
- Develop opportunities using available community resources which expand the context and content of the individuals being served based on their needs and interests.
- Form safe relationships with the participants while also encouraging them to develop natural supports. Stand by them in achieving personal goals and meeting challenges.
- Enter daily contact notes, times and goal tracking for using specialized software.
- Follow procedures for use of Company vehicles which includes keeping them clean, safe and incident free.
- Maintain all required training and seek for professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to staff meeting twice a month and attend occasional Saturday trainings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience providing SCC day program services to adults with IDD.
- Ability to use counseling, redirection techniques and intervention skills to manage conflict, resistance, attitude challenges and mental health related issues.
- Safe driving record and ability to pass rigorous background check.
- Knowledge of community resources, locations and activities.
- Ability to establish appropriate boundaries and communicate effectively with participants and their care teams.
- Willingness to contribute to the Company and support other employees.
- Ability to manage credit card spending within budget.
- Ability to use software to record hours, contact notes and track goals. Send texts, access email, Dropbox and tracking software using personal device.
- Ability to pass State required training and willingness to invest time in professional development.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
