CHICAGO MONTESSORI
Thriving, independently run school on Chicago’s north side is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Teacher’s Assistant for the start of the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate is an observant individual interested in learning about the technical aspects of deeper level teaching and wishes to collaborate with helping develop young bilingual minds.
The Bilingual Elementary Teacher’s Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the integrated curriculum and assisting the Lead teacher. Candidates must have a strong sense of curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a joyful, pleasant disposition while also being comfortable maintaining a position of authority. One to three years of experience with children ages 6-9 is preferred.
Our school re-imagines the way teachers teach and students learn. Our integrated curriculum weaves mathematics, language studies, social studies and science into a dynamic learning experience that offers personalized instruction in a bilingual (English/Spanish) environment. Each school day is characterized by the teachers working in conjunction with the children to direct their own learning, and no two days are alike. Our teachers are open and ready to respond to changing circumstances since the children have the freedom to choose and structure their day. Teachers do not use or rely on traditional school schedules or worksheets. Instead, they formulate lessons based on their observations of the children, taking into account their interests and individual needs.
