We are hiring for a full-time Front Of House Manager to lead our team and help grow the business. We seek a non-student with an interest in living in the high country for the foreseeable future. Hiring will be carefully done to find people that want to participate in building a supportive & efficient company. Applicants should have 5+ years of restaurant experience, with two or more years of leadership experience.

To lead successful lunch/dinner service, your responsibilities may require serving tables, maintaining an orderly bar, acting as maitre d', and helping staff solve problems. At the outset your time will be a mix of dedicated managerial/administrative time as well as taking tables to ensure that customer success is at the forefront. As the position evolves the role can shift to being exclusively managerial which includes: hiring/training, ordering, scheduling and cash management.
Specific Responsibilites
Service related:
- Work to ensure that guests leave happy
- Oversee and refine day to day opening/closing duties
- Work to proactively identify, prevent problems. Resolve problems that arise.
- Act as Maitre D’ at busy times, checking on tables and assisting where needed
- Training staff to ensure that they are capable of de-escalating customer issues
- Prioritizing and delegating to ensure smooth service
Management related:
- Hire and train staff who share the goal of customers feeling cared for
- Ensure that BOH and FOH are cohesive on guest experience
- Able to hold staff accountable
- Write and publish a weekly schedule in a timely manner
- Daily cash management
- Conduct training sessions and meetings as appropriate
- Keep menus updated
- Design par lists and execute successful ordering procedures
Bar:
- Track keg and liquor yields to spot issues
- Order as needed
- Facilitate training of qualified staff on bar
- Help identify sales trends and design ways to capitalize on them
- Work with staff to design and implement rotating seasonal cocktails
- Work with ownership on facility upgrades

Compensation:Compensation will be between $55,000 and $65000 with the starting amount depending on experience and proof of success.
About us: Basil’s is a locally owned restaurant in Boone that serves fresh pasta, sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts to individuals from a variety of backgrounds. We strive to make everything from scratch. We serve a mix of locals, students, and seasonal guests. We pour craft beers usually brewed in NC, and have cocktails as well as a great wine list. We offer weekly wine tastings and are always on the lookout for community organizations to support.
