The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Public Health Secretary. The Public Health Secretary functions as a member of the Communicable Disease Team under the direction of the Communicable Disease (CD) Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine secretarial duties in the Community Health & Prevention Division programs, particularly in Communicable Disease and Immunization Programs.
- Under the direction of the CD Coordinator, schedules appointments, registers clients, answers and direct calls and completes follow-up activities as required.
- Conducts data entry into various platforms.
- Organizes and files records.
- Verifies client insurance information.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Two years secretarial (or related) experience required.
- Basic knowledge of medical billing preferred.
- Requires excellent verbal and written bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with the public and employees.
- Intermediate word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in work-related tasks upon completion of formal and informal training.
- May require some early evening and weekend hours.
