Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, public administration, women’s studies, relations or other related field, or combined education and 2 – 3 years in a higher education or legal/regulatory environment strongly preferred.
This position requires strong customer service focus, communication, time management skills, and the ability to provide high-level administrative support in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating the ability to interact and work effectively as a team player. Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers. The ability to use diplomacy and tact is essential. Individual must be able to independently research answers to questions and make appropriate contacts of information on resolution of pertinent issues.
Work requires fact-finding and compilation skills plus ability to manage a variety of tasks and timelines simultaneously, at times with little supervision; and have the ability to organize workload with close attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times in a highly confidential office is a must.
Excellent oral communication skills are required when providing information to accurately convey sensitive/confidential information to students, staff, faculty, campus and Atlanta University Center administrators, and visitors to the campus community. Incumbent must be able to write business correspondences plus compose memos, letters, and emails. A demonstrated knowledge and the ability to utilize various software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point), with high degree of accuracy and speed; social networking tools; online presentation tools (e.g. Prezi); and web applications is required. Also, must be able to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as Federal compliance reports. Good proofreading skills are essential.
