VSEI is seeking a Business Planning, Pricing and Data Analytics Leade. This newly created role will combine pricing, business planning, and data analytics under one leader. As a single team, understanding the customer needs, the business objectives, and the elements needed to plan and subsequently monitor activities will be aligned end to end. This role will report to the Vice President of Operations and for a successful individual able to further develop the capabilities of the team career, growth within the role is possible.
This highly analytical individual will lead a centralized analyst team responsible to deliver high judgment pricing strategies; build actionable data sets in support of accurate and insightful operational reporting and will use those information flows to influence cross functional department leaders. Operating as a key point of contact for general division information and inquiries, this role regularly interacts with senior leadership outside the division, on occasion with customers, and requires demonstrated curiosity; ability to build from scratch; and to remain scrappy until repeatable processes are in place.
Our existing data system(s) and structure for pricing are early in their evolution. The individual in this role will need
to be comfortable dealing with considerable ambiguity in decision making. Longer-term, the expectation is that this individual, and their team, have built out the foundational data and system structure to scale analytics in support of detailed telemetry into the business financials and operations. To get from the current state to the future point, there is immense opportunity for this team to be curious and take ownership to build their legacy.
Hire, develop and manage a high-performance planning and analytic team desiring to impress the organization with their ability to answer questions, drill deep into details, and to apply high judgement in times of ambiguity
Build from scratch the processes to forecast demand of a Services business and use that forecast to drive operational readiness budgets and plans
Build scenario plans based on new business opportunities, potential demand changes, and critical technology trends that inform when and which customer opportunities we pursue
Identifies or develops cutting- edge analytical tools, models, and methods for making key business decisions
Establishes the metrics and operational reporting required to measure business performance, and recommends the go-forward strategy to address performance gaps
Act as primary point of contact for Sales, Finance, Operations, and Business Development
Analyze demand and supply matching, identify gaps and drive action plans with partner organizations (Operations, Engineering, Logistics) to mitigate business risk
Prepares and defends pricing strategies
Develops data-driven analyses and business plan recommendations to optimize resources and ensure that business plans can be translated into financial value
Reviews new business proposals (SOWs and contracts), identifies issues, risks, and opportunities. Executes financial due diligence and explains ramifications of findings and recommendations for project progress
Works with cross-functional teams to set targets, develop plans, conduct analyses, measure results, and improves processes. Consults with senior management to present data, propose solutions and identify opportunities for improvement
May participate in or lead cost and price discussions with external or internal parties
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Typically, 10+ years total experience in strategy, planning, operations, finance, or related functional area
BS / BA degree
Demonstrated ability of successful team management including hire / fire, coaching, and development
Outstanding interpersonal, collaboration and teamwork skills and experience
Comfortable dealing with, and making decisions while dealing with high levels of ambiguity
Able to operate successfully in a lean, fast-paced organization, with the ability to scale people and the organization quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
Excellent analytical thinking, technical analysis, and data manipulation skills
Ability to lead multiple, large, time sensitive projects or work streams
Ability to identify emerging trends from market and industry data and make clear and compelling business planning recommendations
