POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties required to deliver health care services to workers and worker populations; develop and implement a worker’s compensation program; focus on health promotion, protection and restoration of workers health to promote a safe and healthy working environment.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
1. Administer employee health services such as acute and/or minor injuries, illnesses, medical surveillance and return to work program.
2. Administer Workers’ Compensation claims and case management in accordance with Department of Labor guidelines.
3. Administer the self-insured Worker’s Compensation program to ensure company is properly covered and employees receive proper treatment.
4. Ensure timely and equitable investigation and evaluation, reserving registration and equitable settlement on all claims.
5. Complete self-insured reports for the Division of Workers’ Compensation to ensure company is in compliance.
6. Represent company in legal issues and claims settlement at informal conferences and hearings.
7. Negotiate price contracts with hospitals, physicians and law firms to establish fixed cost pricing.
8. Maintain OSHA record keeping and Workers’ Compensation requirements in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
9. Maintain OSHA and EPA required records such as injury, etc.
10. Coordinate corrective action with supervisors and managers to prevent recurring injuries.
11. Manage subrogation process for collection of money owed to company.
12. Maintain current technical expertise in order to provide advice in handling complex or unusual claims.
13. Maintain employee medical records and documentation to record employee medical history and health surveillance activities.
14. Develop strategic plans for implementation of health and safety compliance programs to provide a safe and healthy workplace.
15. Administer FMLA documentation and record keeping requirements in accordance with established federal guidelines.
16. Implement and evaluate company health and wellness through health fairs and by working with corporate health or by surveying employees.
17. Coordinate and manage company blood drive.
18. Manage eye protection and safety glasses program to ensure employees are properly protected.
19. Perform daily and annual audiograms; review results with employee and make physician referral if necessary.
20. Explain effects of noise on hearing, proper fit, use and care of hearing protection devices; maintain training and all record keeping requirements.
21. Maintain annual calibration and records for audiometric booth and audiometer.
22. Conduct periodic health audit interviews and assessments to establish and maintain employee health history.
23. Perform respirator fit training and documentation to ensure employees are properly fit and understand how to use.
24. Conduct training on Blood Borne Pathogens, chemical spills, etc.
25. Analyze job tasks, evaluate ergonomics in the workplace; investigate ergonomic complaints and make appropriate recommendations and provide resources.
26. Administer occupational health services including program planning, analysis, cost containment measures, and make policy development recommendations.
27. Manage company substance abuse program for pre-employment, post-accident and random drug testing.
28. Maintain new employee reasonable cause and post-accident drug and alcohol testing records.
29. Evaluate collection protocols along with collection sites and laboratories for drug testing program.
30. Maintain inventory and order first aid and safety supplies.
31. Access, input and retrieve information from computer to assist in accomplishing job responsibilities.
32. Assist the Human Resource Manager in coordination of the Employee Assistance Program.
33. Assist the Human Resource Manager in complying with employment related work practices such as ADA, FMLA and recruiting.
34. Serve as team member and team trainer for responding to health and safety emergencies.
35. Forecast budget figures for health and safety items and manage spending appropriately.

1. Sitting, Walking, Climbing, Stooping or Crouching, Grasping, Reaching, Talking, Hearing.
2. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more with the ability to bring objects into sharp focus and judge distance and space relationships along with the ability to ID and distinguish colors.
3. Sedentary Work – exert a negligible amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Broad knowledge of a discipline equivalent to a complete college or university education
Experience: Requires a minimum of three years job related experience in order to gain sufficient knowledge to perform the requirements of the position.
