Job Summary
Testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, testing and for reporting test results in accordance with the laboratory’s established polices and procedures. Knowledgeable of the principles upon which lab tests are based and can recognize appropriate questionable and critical results. Possess the ability to organize workload for maximum efficiency, accuracy and ensures that test reports are accurate and reliable.
Responsibilities
Each individual performs only the type of test complexity (moderate and/or high) commensurate with the individual’s education, training, experience, and technical abilities as authorized by the laboratory director. Each individual performing moderate and/or high complexity testing per CLIA must:
- Follow the lab’s procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities including all instrument maintenance performed and assimilate data for review and filing.
- Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the lab’s established acceptable levels of performance.
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problem or immediately notify a Supervisor or Director.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s
- Established performance specifications.
Working conditions
- Must be able to work under stress and in fast-paced environment.
- Emergent situations could extend working hours or require infrequent week-end work.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing and seeing.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
