Job Overview: Reporting to the Habormaster, the Marine Forklift Driver will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe handling of boats and marine equipment within the marina.
Responsibilities:
· Boat Handling:
o Operate marine forklifts to lift, move, and position boats within the marina, demonstrating precision and care to avoid any damage during handling.
o Collaborate closely with boat owners and marina staff to ensure seamless coordination during launching, haul-out, and repositioning of vessels.
o Execute precise and controlled movements when placing boats in and out of the water, taking into account environmental factors and vessel characteristics.
o Safely secure boats during lifting and transport, utilizing proper lifting points and attachment methods to prevent any harm to the vessel's structure.
o Conduct thorough pre-lift inspections, checking for any abnormalities in the boat's condition and communicating findings to the Marina General Manager.
· Dock Management:
o Assist in the placement and retrieval of boats in and out of the water.
o Collaborate with marina staff to coordinate boat movements and maintain an organized dock space.
· Safety Compliance:
o Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines for forklift operations in a marine environment.
o Conduct pre-operational checks on forklift equipment and report any issues promptly.
· Customer Interaction:
o Communicate effectively with boat owners and marina staff during boat handling operations.
o Provide assistance and guidance to boat owners during launching and haul-out processes.
· Equipment Maintenance:
o Participate in routine maintenance and cleaning of the marine forklifts.
o Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the Marina Harbormaster and service department.
Perform additional tasks and fulfill responsibilities as assigned, recognizing that this list is not exhaustive and may not encompass all the duties required for the role.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a marine or industrial setting.
· Valid forklift certification and knowledge of safety protocols for marine forklift operations.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic marina environment.
· Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of forklift maintenance.
· Availability for weekend and holiday shifts is essential to meet the operational needs of the marina, often dictated by boating and customer activity.
Physical Requirements: The Marine Forklift Driver position involves a range of physical activities essential to daily operations. Applicants should be able to:
· Lift and Carry: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, including equipment and materials.
· Mobility: Operate the marine forklift and navigate the marina facilities for extended periods.
· Manual Dexterity: Use hands and feet for precise control of the forklift and handling of equipment.
· Visual Acuity: Maintain focus on boat movements, safety, and operational details.
· Hearing: Effective communication with boat owners and marina staff.
· Working Outside: Perform tasks outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions, including sun, wind, rain, and temperature fluctuations.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
