Transportation Customer Service Rep

We are a mid-sized asset-based Trucking company located in O’Fallon, Missouri specializing in the movement of Dry Van, Non Haz / Non-Reefer freight within a 600 mile radius of St. Louis, Missouri. We have been in the transportation business since 1980 and are in the process of hiring a new team member to fill the important Dispatcher/CSR role. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient movement of our fleet and the successful delivery of shipments to our clients. You will be responsible for monitoring and tracking the status of shipments, communicating with drivers, customers and internal teams, and resolving any issues that may arise during the transportation process. Attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks will be key to provide reliable and timely deliveries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor shipments utilizing tracking systems and software to monitor real-time status of shipments and truck locations. Ensure shipments are progressing as planned and intervene when necessary to prevent delays.
- Process phone inquiries from brokers, drivers, and customers. Respond as required with timely, accurate updates.
- Communicate with drivers via phone and e-messaging to support status updates of loads including dispatch, driver arrival and departures, detention time, etc.
- Update freight management system with critical business data including load status, arrival and departure times, detention time, etc.
- Dispatch drivers and ensure proper documentation is provided for dispatched loads.
- Provide load updates to customers via e-mail, internet portals and/or direct phone contact.
- Accept, schedule and coordinate customer loads, including setting of pick-up and delivery times.
- Ability to reliably adjust/update pick-up and delivery dates as situations change.
- Act as a point of contact during emergencies, accidents or incidents involving drivers.
Requirements include:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills (Always thinking the Customer comes first. Listens and responds to customer feedback.)
- Heavy experience in customer service support roles.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business situations/priorities.
- Team player: Interacts with other people effectively toward delivering against business goals. Co-operates within the team and across the business.
- Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Organized problem-solver.
- Self-directed, self-starter.
Experience:
- Clerical and/or Customer Service Support: Minimum of 1 year in direct customer support (Preferred)
